Tuesday 6th August 2013 - New Course Dates!

Our next short film course is now locked in and starts on Wednesday 11th September 2013, at 6:30pm, taking place at our usual venue at the ACS HQ in North Sydney. I recently played the role of Det. Sgt. Bryne Ruse, the policeman that tracked down Australia’s Most Wanted Man, Malcolm Naden for Channel 7’s The Force series. This special episode is a departure from the the usual series and will go to air in October 2013. Monday 3rd June 2013 - New Course Dates! Our next short film course is now locked in and starts on Wednesday 3rd July 2013, at 6:30pm, taking place at our usual venue at the ACS HQ in North Sydney. Our last class made a great little film about a guy that tries to hang himself, but has a few too many interruptions... It’ll be up here soon. For any Stanley Kubrick fans out there, I discovered this wonderful study into The Shining, and how Kubrick placed a whole load of hidden messages into his masterpiece. See what you make of it. You can find the whole article here. Enjoy! Wednesday 3rd April 2013 - New Course Dates! Our next short film course is now locked in and starts on Wednesday 8th May 2013, at 6:30pm, taking place at our usual venue at the ACS HQ in North Sydney. I’ve been busy with a few music video shoots and one upcoming project which I’m very excited about, but cannot discuss in detail. Suffice to say it’s a viral video for a major international game company. Wednesday 5th December 2012 - New Course Dates! Our next short film course is now locked in and starts on Wednesday 6th February 2013, at 6:30pm. As usual, the course takes place at the ACS HQ in North Sydney. We’ve added some cool new features to the site, in particular, a Google Calendar feature so you can now, at the press of a button, add all the course dates and times into your Outlook, iPad, iPhone or Android calendars! We’ve also added a Google Map to help you find the ACS HQ in North Sydney. Sunday 30th September 2012 - Facebook, Google+, etc.. Still adding more stuff to the site (videos, bookings), and I’ve upgraded the whole social media thing as well. There are a few very cool and informative sites whose contents I retweet and post on the school’s Facebook page. Some of the content is from Youtube and Vimeo, but it’s all about film-making with tips and tricks to make your films so much better - and that’s what this site (and the school) is all about. I must say - and with the deepest of respect to former course attendees - that the last course (September 2012) has turned out my favourite film so far. Yes, I DO love the Interview with the Vampire film from the previous class, but the September group really shone. This group in particular had NO previous experience, yet they rose to the occasion with their acting and cinematography. The shoot was a little slow in getting off the ground that day, but they made up for it with gusto!

Monday 24th September 2012 - All new website!

Well, I’ve just put up the all-new website! I’ve been tweeting a lot of useful stuff lately, which can be found on the Twitter feed to the right here. I’ll also add some of my favourite short films from YouTube in due course. Watch this space! I’ve also just found some excellent short films, plus some great tutorials on how to get a really good film-look out of your DSLR camera. On that subject, if you own a Canon DSLR, then you really should check out Technicolor Cinestyle. It’s a colour profile for your camera and Look-up table (LUT) for your edit suite that gives your footage a wonderful technicolor film look.
